Participation. I begin my day with preparing and sharing breakfast. It is the opportunity to participate in the lives of those I love. I get to offer a bit of myself and time to feed family (sometimes other guests, too!) and prepare them for the day.
Practice. Everything including breakfast prep is practice. Still, I set aside time to mediate, journal, read, and be. This opens the door for a greater awareness of the day, of this moment, of Presence and being present. It allows me to recognize the daily pattern of receiving and releasing in simply breathing in and out. It reminds me I am part of something larger than my limited perspective, and most importantly open me to see my life is not about me.
Thankfulness. Gratitude especially shapes my day around seeing everything as gift, being thankful for who I am, for who I know, for who I don’t know, for what I have. It reshapes my day away from the focus on scarcity and acquisition and toward recognition of abundance. It opens me to be thankful for enough. Everything is grace.
