Advent: Embracing the Arrival

December 17, 2023 ~ James ~ Leave a comment

The word ‘advent’ signifies a coming or an arrival. Often, when we consider the church season of Advent, we focus solely on the aspect of anticipation. However, this perspective overlooks the profound reality of what has already transpired, what already exists. We are immersed in the Christic Presence. All that is required is for us … Continue reading Advent: Embracing the Arrival

Always One More Thing

November 21, 2023 ~ James ~ Leave a comment

I was looking at my list of items to accomplish today. As I pondered the list, an overwhelming sense of dread began to build. Each task, while necessary, feels like a small chip away at my freedom, making my free spirit feel hemmed in. This dichotomy between spiritual understanding and daily tasks often leaves me … Continue reading Always One More Thing

Grounded: My Choice over Lunar Allure

October 28, 2023 ~ James ~ Leave a comment

How much would you pay to go to the moon? Nothing. I am not really all that interested in traveling to the moon. I am still learning to take in the reality that is right here and now within the atmosphere. I do love a dark night of gazing at her majestic beauty.

All of Them!

October 3, 2023October 3, 2023 ~ James ~ 3 Comments

What details of your life could you pay more attention to? Attention is a fleeting companion. Being attentive in any moment is a challenge; still, to be awake is to attend one’s life. I love that word, “Attend.” We attend concerts, the movies, the theatre, parties, meetings, and school. Is our attendance more than an … Continue reading All of Them!

No One Here By That Name

October 2, 2023 ~ James ~ 2 Comments

What's your #1 priority tomorrow? A cheery smile greets me as I arrive. “Today is my name,” they say with a hopeful, helpful smile. “I’m here to see Tomorrow,” I say. Looking a bit bewildered but still smiling, Today says, “There is no one here by that name.” “Wait. Let me see Yesterday then. Yesterday, … Continue reading No One Here By That Name

My Own Voice

September 30, 2023September 30, 2023 ~ James ~ 1 Comment

What’s the trait you value most about yourself? When my children were young, I would read to them most nights before bed. Often children’s stories have multiple characters, and so I would attempt to create appropriate voices for members of the Berenstain Bear family or Junie B Jones or any of children’s favorites. Almost without … Continue reading My Own Voice

Money Matters?

September 29, 2023 ~ James ~ 1 Comment

List three jobs you'd consider pursuing if money didn't matter. Money has never been the goal of my work life. Sure, I wanted enough to live and provide for the significant people in my life. I currently do the same work I have done for just shy of 38 years. The work I chose and … Continue reading Money Matters?

Returning to Thanks

September 27, 2023September 27, 2023 ~ James ~ 3 Comments

Some mornings- like today!- I cannot get aligned or grounded in my morning practice. My mind is wandering everywhere even as I sit my meditation/centering prayer. I cannot “draw” or release myself back to the moment. I let go and let go and let go and let go. I may rationalize that this is building … Continue reading Returning to Thanks

Information Overload!

September 22, 2023 ~ James ~ 1 Comment

Which topics would you like to be more informed about? I have been “jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none” kind of person most of my life. Acquiring new and varying information gave me a sense of pride. If this question had been asked of me ten years ago, my answer would have been, “Why limit me to a few … Continue reading Information Overload!

Non-Specific “Ideal” Weeks

September 11, 2023 ~ James ~ Leave a comment

Describe your ideal week. I think my ideal week defies moment-by-moment description. No particular event has to happen to make my week ideal. I will note that there are some components that would make any week ideal for me. Presence. I want to “be there” in each moment of my week as it unfolds. I … Continue reading Non-Specific “Ideal” Weeks

It's Easier to Believe the Bad Stuff - Infinitely Precious

In this episode of the Infinitely Precious Podcast, James reflects on the human tendency to seek validation through the perceptions of others while struggling to believe the good about ourselves. Drawing on a line from Pretty Woman—“It’s easier to believe the bad stuff”—he explores why criticism and self-doubt often feel more believable than affirmation, and how much energy we spend trying to manage how others see us. What if, instead of chasing approval, we practiced receiving what is already true? Through the simple spiritual rhythm of recognize, release, return, James invites listeners to notice the harsh inner voice, release the need to prove their worth, and return to the deeper truth that they are already infinitely precious, already loved, and already enough.
