A Life Celebrated

March 21, 2026 ~ James ~ Leave a comment

Today, I went to the celebration of life for a young woman I had known since before she was born. What a precious, life-filled person she was all her short life. I sat in a room filled with people who were mourning her: her parents at whose wedding I was officiant, both sets of grandparents, … Continue reading A Life Celebrated

Joy of Being Thankful

September 1, 2023August 30, 2023 ~ James ~ Leave a comment

I find it meaningful to begin my day in gratitude. So I have a gratitude practice. Gratitude Practice (summarized) Open my journal. Close my eyes and “breathe myself here.” Open my eyes and say, “I am thankful for…” Write name by name what arises from that statement. When I reach a “stopping point,” repeat out … Continue reading Joy of Being Thankful

Deep Silence before Dawn

August 28, 2023 ~ James ~ 2 Comments

What's your favorite time of day? I have a weekly habit of arising at 5:00AM on Sundays, in the pre-dawn hours. There is something about how the Silence envelopes me at the time that brings an inner peace. I was not a morning person at all most of my life. I rose early only occasionally … Continue reading Deep Silence before Dawn

Another Beautiful Day

August 27, 2023 ~ James ~ 1 Comment

Sundays are the day I consistently rise before the sun. I am awake by 5:00 AM and in “my chair” by 5:10 with a cup of coffee and the Silence as companions. This morning was no different and completely different. My space is at the back of our house, a small room addition with windows … Continue reading Another Beautiful Day

Unfinished Stories

May 17, 2023May 18, 2023 ~ James ~ Leave a comment

I was at a memorial service yesterday. I was also facilitating the experience. Every time I lead a funeral or memorial, a variety of thoughts arise in me. Every person is a gift. Everything is a gift. There is meaning in rituals that celebrate the gift of a life, particularly in a memorial/funeral service. A … Continue reading Unfinished Stories

It's Easier to Believe the Bad Stuff - Infinitely Precious

In this episode of the Infinitely Precious Podcast, James reflects on the human tendency to seek validation through the perceptions of others while struggling to believe the good about ourselves. Drawing on a line from Pretty Woman—“It’s easier to believe the bad stuff”—he explores why criticism and self-doubt often feel more believable than affirmation, and how much energy we spend trying to manage how others see us. What if, instead of chasing approval, we practiced receiving what is already true? Through the simple spiritual rhythm of recognize, release, return, James invites listeners to notice the harsh inner voice, release the need to prove their worth, and return to the deeper truth that they are already infinitely precious, already loved, and already enough.
