The truth in this startles once again:
Unsought, what I need arises.
Unbidden, this moment comes.
Each new moment arising in my life offer to teach me something. Sometimes it seems as if the Universe is saying almost imperceptibly, “Here I am.”
The Sugar Maple waves.
Then stilling, she becomes my meditation guide.
I watch the Sugar Maple as its leaves gently dance. The same leaves become still, no visible movement at all. A crisp Autumn breeze visits through the open window by my chair. After struggling with my morning practice yesterday, my sitting today is full with Silence.
I am careful not to attach a value to this moment, as if yesterday was “bad” practice and today “good” practice. Yesterday’s moment is gone in all but memory. I need not measure today by yesterday.
All is at peace in the moment. Nothing is missing; all is here. My mind briefly wanders to what I should make of it all? I need not make anything of it. I simply receive the moment as it comes.
What the day had to give I missed
Looking for something else.
Perhaps my challenge yesterday was that I was “looking for some-thing.” I was trying to wring my preconceived meaning out of the day as it began. I was asking for something other than what the day had to give. And what the day had to give I could not receive because I was seeking something else.
Today I bring nothing, no-thing, to the moment. Today there is only Presence. What is spoken will be enough. What is Silence will be enough.
The spaciousness opens,
washing over me as wave on the beach.
