A Sabbath Creed

We believe that God is the Creator who rested,
not because God was exhausted,
but because God revealed a holy rhythm for creation.

We believe that the world is sustained by God,
not by our endless striving.

We believe that every person is infinitely precious
and unconditionally loved,
apart from what they produce or accomplish.

We believe that Sabbath is not a reward for hard work,
but a gift of grace.

We believe that Christ calls the weary into rest,
and that in resting we learn again to trust God.

We believe that our lives are brief and precious,
and that each moment is meant to be lived fully—
working wholeheartedly,
resting deeply,
loving generously,
and trusting faithfully.

We believe that our value is measured not by productivity,
but by the love of God,
who holds all things together.
